What many adults take for granted is actually a learning process in the early years of life. This involves the ability for both eyes to work together correctly. Two-eyed (binocular) vision has a significant influence on our perception, because it is only through the different visual information from both eyes that we can see three-dimensionally and perceive multiple things at the same time.<\/p>\n

However, if one of the eyes presents problems at an early stage, for example by squinting, trembling or defective vision, the brain tries to compensate for the weaker eye. The resulting visual impairment is called amblyopia. To prevent this condition from manifesting itself, it is recommended that you visit an ophthalmologist with their own orthoptics<\/a> professionals (“School of Vision”). Our practice is specialized in the treatment of children, helping them to achieve healthy visual development. Amblyopie-Therapie in der augen\u00e4rztlichen Sehschule f\u00fcr Kinder<\/h2>[vc_column_text el_class=”margin-top-20″]Amblyopia (from Greek “\u1f00\u03bc\u03b2\u03bb\u03cd\u03c2”: dull and “\u1f45\u03c8\u03b9\u03c2”: eye, vision) refers to the functional visual impairment of one or both eyes. You may also be familiar with the very appropriate English term “lazy eye”. Because it results from inadequate development of the visual system in early childhood, amblyopia can be prevented if problems are identified and treated very early in screening. If amblyopia is already present, the so-called “sensitive phase” must be used in children to achieve an improvement in visual acuity. This opportunity usually ends after the age of 10. In addition, we use atropine drops or visual occlusive films to treat the visual impairment. As an experienced pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Johannes P. Eisenack will investigate the cause, make a diagnosis, and discuss a treatment plan with you at Children’s “School of Vision” of the Bellevue Eye Clinic. Thus, even with relatively straightforward methods and without surgery, an enormous improvement can be achieved and thus also the quality of life can be significantly increased.[\/vc_column_text]
