Congenital ptosis - congenital drooping of the eyelid<\/h3>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Congenital ptosis, also known as congenital ptosis, is a drooping eyelid that is often present from birth. It is usually an underdevelopment or malfunction of the muscle that lifts the eyelid (levator palpebrae superioris). This can lead to partial or complete covering of the pupil, which can impair vision and lead to amblyopia.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

Causes and symptoms<\/h3>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The causes usually lie in a malformation of the muscle that lifts the eyelid Affected children often have asymmetrical eyelids, and the affected eye may appear smaller due to the drooping eyelid. If the ptosis is very pronounced, it can lead to a noticeable head posture: children try to correct this by lifting their chin.
